The Beacon Heath and Whipton project
Beacon Heath and Whipton are two of the most deprived areas of Exeter. Many of the children are really keen on music and would love to learn a classical stringed instrument, and we think they should have that opportunity.
Currently we are working with the two children’s centres, Willowbrook School and Whipton Barton first school in those districts, to provide some children in these areas with free music lessons. As you can see, we are just starting with enthusiastic young musicians but very limited resources!

Four girls to one cello is definitely not ideal, and wooden spoons are ok to practice bow holds, but do make an odd sound when you play.
What we are working toward is to build up sufficient funds to allow these children to continue with music lessons for as long as they wish to continue.
