Just a quick post to say hello to everyone and to introduce myself as the new site content editor for EYS.
My name is Kate and I’m the Mum of Lizzie, who is learning to play the cello. A looooong time ago, I did a degree in Music and then a PGCE that allowed me to teach music in secondary schools. I became a class music teacher for a few years before changing direction slightly by doing a second degree in Psychology. I then went on to specialise in teaching children with autism.
Nearly seven years ago however, I took on the toughest challenge of all when I became a Mum. I now have three young children ... so you can expect to see me around in EYS for quite some time!
I’m still getting the hang of how this website works, so if you see anything strange over the next few weeks, it’s probably because I’ve pressed the wrong button!
I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone, both in real life through the EYS activities and also virtually, here in this blog.
I’ll leave you for now with a link to one of Lizzie’s favourite online games. It’s from the Carnegie Hall’s series of Listening Adventures and takes you on an exciting safari journey through the instruments of the orchestra: Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra (by Benjamin Britten).

Hi Kate,
Thanks again for agreeing to take this on. I’m meeting with the other teachers on Monday so hopefully we will have made some progress as to what needs updating.
Any ideas from members may also be helpful!
